Yo...no no!

What better way is there to teach teens about Christ than by listening to a Christian rap song energized by a bumping beat and meaningful message?

That was a real question rather than a rhetorical one.

I should say that one girl did ask if we could use the song ("we worship you" on Ambassador's Thesis ) in church. I cannot wait for the day.

I knew that rap can be hard to understand so I typed out the lyrics. To do this I had to listen to the song a few seconds at a time and try to understand what each word was. One hour for a 4 minute song.

The lyrics are powerful: Christology, soteriology, attributes of God done with powerful beats and utilizing poignant, and sometimes hilarious similes. (Good deeds will stand like a man that is one-legged.
We don’t have enough like trying to graduate with one credit.)

To many of the sharp souls in the youth group, listening to rap was a sin against their "death metal cult".

As an eclectic, I have to be more aware of the power that music has for shaping one's image during the teen years.

The teens could have cared less about the words of the song I played. (Is there better music than that which honors God?) There would have been less fuss over music with questionable lyrics and good sound than the worship rap song.

My charge to them: Learn to love rap yo. No not really. Find music you enjoy which turns your thoughts towards the heavenly realms where Christ is seated on the throne.
