Telos

Have you ever read about those strange cultures that live in close proximity with extended families and share the daily toils of life together. While admittedly idealizng the positive aspects of such living, I find the idea of close connection a cozy choice. Yet I am hundreds, in some cases thousands of miles away from friends and family. Hopefully "Telos" will erase the miles.

What is Gluttony?

Friends,

I am giving a speech on the "Deadly Sin" of Gluttony. In preparation, I thought it would be great to hear what you think about it.

What is it? or What does it look like?
Is it a sin?

I figured I'd help you out there Good Reverend, since no one else seems too. Actually, since you are giving a speech, I'll just give you the final word on what gluttony truly is. Gluttony is something bad regarding too much of something. Well, that is the definitive argument right there. Publish it! Anyway, back to other stuff. I don't know that I really know what gluttony is. Although I have as much a question about what it is as what it isn't. I have so often heard what gluttony is, but never knew if I agreed. Perhaps gluttony is nothing like what we usually hear. Perhpas it really has nothing to do with food or drink, chocolate or icecream. Perhaps gluttony is more along the lines of a lack of something. A lack of self-control maybe. Or, maybe it's having an unsatisfiable heart. I don't know, I'm kind of thinking as I go, but I can say that I've never heard a definition I like. I've never found one that really answers it for me. I do know that when Jesus ate and drank He was accused of being a glutton and a drunkard, but does that mean that the pharisees necessarily had it right? they sure missed the boat on a lot of other things. I'm not sure that I can fully answer in a way that even satisfies myself. Whatever it is, watch out for it, or you'll end up dead!
